The Docs Like this Pyramid. The Height of Hypocrisy?

GOOD PYRAMID

We have written quite a bit about pyramid schemes here in the pages of BFT. Generally we have been, shall we say, critical. But now we must confess to our reading audience we have our own pyramid. OK, so it’s not a selling pyramid where the folks at the bottom get crushed.

That would look more like this:

BAD PYRAMID

GOOD PYRAMID

Ours is a skin care pyramid!

Well, it’s not really our pyramid – we borrowed it from articles written in medical dermatology journals.

So, why are we so fired up about this?  Because our work made it to the top of the pyramid. Stem cells, cytokines & growth factors. We have officially displaced peptides (underwhelming) and all those ho hum botanicals from the top. We are officially the “highest science” in the kingdom.

If you have spent any significant time here, you know our commitment to scientific truth is paramount, and that our personal passions are applying advances in human stem cell science to anti-aging skincare. From the skincare pyramid published in the April 2014 issue of the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, you can see our research into bone marrow stem cell cytokines and growth factors is precisely where the “action” is in skincare.

We knew all along that our science was cutting edge. It now appears the dermatologists are recognizing the importance topical human bio-signals can play in optimizing and stimulating human skin cell behavior and function.

All you have to do is click on the menu at the top of every page at BFT where it says “Truth Pair O’Docs”. Just a little less boring than naming it “About Us”.

Perfect I am in the right place, the right business, the right time to experience this. I’m sure you have heard of jeunesse? I would love for you to break down our cellular rejuvination serum down for me? I was asked to join nerium an I did not. I send people to articles. I’ve never done skin care. I’m told it’d all natural, an a natural ingredient as a preservative as its live. Me being simple an in the medical field a bit did alot of research before I used it. I looked every ingredient up lol. I am jus happy I found it. Scars are gone, wrinkles are gone, cold sore gone in a week, stretch marKS going away, cuts you name it lol. I think my research I am comfortable with but explaining it in your terms might help a bit 🙂

Luminesce by Jeunesse: is a product based on human adipose tissue derived stem cell conditioned media. The company claims it is “organic”. What??? Which means that they don’t understand “organic” or the science of their own product. Or they don’t care, and just choose to deceive. Fat, from older humans, grown in culture. Human derived. “Organic” by definition would mean never exposed to antibiotics or hormones. That rules out quite a few humans. Are they raised on controlled organic feed lots like cattle? Of course not. The cells are obtained as a byproduct of liposuction.

The ingredient argireline – so-called topical botox – isn’t what it purports to be. Peptides purported to block the action of the muscles of the face to reduce wrinkles, “just like Botox”. Ah, but unlike Botox, where clinicians must be trained to know exactly where and how deep to perform the injections (to prevent unwanted side effects) there is no such training for these topicals making wild claims about blocking the neuromuscular junction. Here is the logic you need to consider: IF those peptides do what they claim to do, facial muscles would become weakened or paralyzed. Your facial expressions would change. Your eyelids would no longer open or close fully, resulting in ptosis. IF they did that, they would be affecting muscle, not skin, and would immediately be labelled drugs by the FDA, just as Botox is. Because they cannot even penetrate into the muscular layer of the skin. In short, they don’t work as advertised, which, if you think about it, is a good thing. In fact, even Botox applied topically does nothing. You have to inject it to get it to the neuromuscular junction.

Our opinion of any product that contains these ingredients is that they are whacky from the get go.

We have written extensively about the use of adipose-derived (fat) stem cells in skin care. The main things to know are:

The cytokine profile of fat stem cells is likely to be inflammatory, because fat stem cells secrete adipokines in abundance, which are inflammatory, and fat stem cells donors are significantly older and more likely to be obese

Chronic inflammation has consequences, including: a predisposing factor for many diseases fibrotic rather than scar-free healing (TGFβ-1, TGFβ-2 overwhelming TGFβ-3), pro-aging rather than anti-aging

A model of regeneration deriving from knowledge about phases of wound healing dictates that positive results will come from a balance of cytokines with a predominance of anti-inflammatory cytokines, if they are to achieve anti-aging benefit.

Heather, I checked out the Jeunesse line. I get the fast heeling results that you talk about and I get to talk to the actual inventors of my product here in front of God and everybody!! And I can tell you by the time you purchase the Jeunesse products you’ve spent a ton of money! For my excellent results and the accountability of the product developers I’ve put my money on AnteAGE. I really like the accountability!! Holding ones feet to the fire really promotes excellence. In MHO.
